TCS, the TVUP television head, features all the latest generation technological improvements for optimized television channel distribution via OTT, both live and in all its derived benefits: program restart, pause, repeat, cloud recordings, or access to authorized programs broadcast during the last seven days.

TVUP has a Data Processing Center (DPC) for each market it operates in and has different local contribution points for its channels in addition to the DPC itself. Thanks to this, the signals of content providers can be contributed in several ways: DTT, SAT and IP.

Thanks to our advanced transcoding process, our content is always adapted to the device it is viewed on.
It is not the same to watch a program on a 50-inch television screen as on a mobile phone. With our technology, we adapt the video bitrate to different profiles, depending on the screen on which the user is viewing the content and the type of network available. There is a big difference, for e.g., on using an FTTH at home or using a WISP or Satellite Internet installation.

The Content Management System is a sophisticated system for organising all the content available and arranging it on each user’s device based on all the rules defined commercially and contractually with all the companies that make up the value chain: producers, distributors, platform, and operators.

Metadata is the detailed information that describes each content and each channel. The precision and quality of the data provided are essential for labeling all the programs and, therefore, the quality of the user’s experiences when retrieving them on any of their devices.

Ensuring the integrity of the content from its end-to-end is fundamental to meeting the requirements of content owners. The DRM protects all the content managed by TCS and guarantees this integrity and security from end to end, from the acquisition and codification of the content to its reproduction on the end user’s devices. Additionally, in the case of the MediaCenter, this protection is compatible with premium UHD (4K) content with Dolby Vision and HDR10 encoding for video, and Dolby Atmos and AAC for sound.

All the content comes together on the TCS “origin” server, to which the TVUP operators who want to optimize their operating costs are connected directly. This content source is not a proxy to use; it is much more. The TCS Supernode Reflector intelligently manages all the packet requests of all the operators’ clients using the TVUP platform, optimizing delivery to the final device, with the best quality, and lowest latency time possible —as direct as possible.

TCS Player Reflector is a fundamental component of our distributed CDN installed in the different APPs that give access to the platform: MediaCenter, Smart TVs, tablets, smartphones, and website. This component brilliantly optimises all the packet requests by giving priority to the players closest to the user that demands it.

Through this mechanism, not only can we reduce the requests for packages to the platform’s source server considerably, but the more in-demand content is at a given time, such as a sports event, the more efficient the mechanism is, brilliantly solving the former problems of concurrency in the world of video OTT.
